This artwork belongs to one of my most productive collections I still continue. About the term “collection” I prefer to the term “series”, I see my process one of indeed collecting rather than producing. About its name “portraits of a european”, I am still pondering what to write about as my thoughts swirl around in our tempestuous times. At any rate, it encompasses both the depicted as well as the depictor. As regards the visual process, I let each begin with a lucky coincidence to see a photographic moment and capture it. Having been deeply inspired by the art of painting, in many cases, such as here, I then accentuate what I felt that moment. By finding out what I first comprehensively saw. Plus the yellow against the darkness around it. Lit only by the glare of neon lights. Who would not want to walk over? To peek inside. One most probably would not do at another time.
